Keyboard is Mightier than the Sword

As even more evidence that muds are here to stay, wired just released an article with commentary from several still active mudder's explaining how they still prefer text based adventure games. Hopefully the trend continues as it does not look like SOT will be playable anywhere in the near future.

And it continues...

Well fixing the old custom pc didn't go so well, but on the bright side I'm now an owner of a Dimension 8400. 2.8GHZ and 512 RAM should be more than enough to power the server and any heavy IDE's. The downside is I won't have access to to my desktop for the next two weeks as I started a new job Monday. However the month of April I should have more free time to getting the database and persistence layer up and running. My new job is all java programming, so hopefully I'll be able to pickup a lot of ideas for the game.

Lost time

Reoccurring system problems have been preventing me from any real work lately. I'm way overdue for a new desktop, however I am going to try to swap out some bad memory that appears to be corrupt, before I drop a grand on a new machine.

Writing help

Tony (I don't know his online alias yet) has agreed to help out with world design. The next features to work on will be object persistence so rooms will be stored offline. I'm planning to install mysql on my "restored" dev machine and use hibernate as a persistance layer. We'll see how this works. First off I'm trying to tighten down the existing progress, squash some bugs and version source.
